They want more primate breeding for more primate experiments

Lobbyists promoting animal research are pushing Congress to spend more money on primate breeding programs in the U.S. If successful, this would mean more monkeys being used in more experiments that can cause pain, suffering, and even death.

Congress is currently working on the FY2025 budget, and we must block this effort!

Funding primate breeding in order to increase primate research is misguided and irresponsible, and it will cause countless numbers of monkeys to needlessly suffer. Over 100,000 primates are already languishing in labs, with tens of thousands enduring invasive experiments, and their captivity adds tremendous psychological stress because they are wild animals. Considering that over 90 percent of new drugs tested on animals (including primates) fail in human clinical trials, funding primate breeding is not a good investment. Instead, human-based alternatives provide better data to understand human disease, leading to new treatments for patients.

Please help prevent innocent animals from suffering in labs by asking Congress to reject funding to expand primate breeding programs in the federal budget. We’ve blocked this effort before and we can do it again!
