We Need YOU to End Animal Dissections!
Dear Friend,
With the start of a new school season, I think of the countless students who are pressured to dissect animals in school. Millions of cats, frogs, pigs, and birds are raised in brutal conditions and killed every year. This practice is cruel, wasteful, and unnecessary.
I’m the Director of Animalearn, a program of AAVS. We support students, teachers, and school administrators by offering cruelty-free alternatives to classroom dissection.
Livia Aschheim of Cupertino High School in California is an example of a student who didn’t want to dissect dead animals. “I know so many students were uncomfortable with dissection,” she said. “Children shouldn’t have to go against their religious or personal values for a grade.”
Because of Livia’s determination and proactive steps to find alternatives to fetal pig dissections at her school, Animalearn honored her as our 2024 Humane Student of the Year. As part of her award, we provided a fetal pig model that she donated to her school’s science department.

We’re committed to putting an end to animal dissection. This will:
🐷 Save animal lives and make education more humane.
💟 Create a safer learning experience without harmful chemicals.
⭐ Give students opportunities to learn using innovative tools like AR/VR technology and realistic models.
🎉 Provide a fun, engaging, and inclusive way to explore life science.
Celebrating its 35th year, Animalearn proudly offers a wide range of non-animal science solutions for teachers and students through our one-of-a-kind FREE lending library, The Science Bank.
