Did you know that millions of cats, pigs, frogs, and other animals are raised in cruel conditions and killed every year so students can dissect them? This is inhumane and wasteful.
It’s also outdated and unnecessary. AAVS is committed to putting an end to it.

AAVS’s Animalearn program works with educators and students to end the exploitation of animals in science education. We provide free non-animal alternatives including realistic models and innovative technology such as virtual reality software.
Jasmine Wang-Jethi, our 2025 Humane Student of the Year, said it perfectly: “Dissecting the carcasses of animals under the guise of education directly opposes what I believe in, especially when there are many viable alternatives that many are not aware of.”
