National Bird Day was established as a day of celebration and advocacy for birds. And there’s no better time to look forward to this February, when the USDA will enact its final regulations to protect birds under the Animal Welfare Act (AWA). AAVS, along with the Avian Welfare Coalition (which started National Bird Day), has been fighting to get AWA protection for birds for over 20 years.
